A is for Algae
A is for Algae is a pilot program that I developed to transform nutrition in schools.
After presenting to the faculty at Pratt Institute, I was encouraged to continue to explore this initiative with NYC Schools. (currently on hold due to Covid).
My initial research into algae as a biomaterial to replace single-use plastics inspired me to look further, and when I did, I discovered the powerful nutritional benefits of the algae, Spirulina. My project evolved into a sustainable solution for school nutrition.
The following is an outline for the pilot program that could address the nutritional deficits in the public school system through a sustainable, plant-based nutritional supplement that would involve teacher and student participation.
